Heavy rain in Jhalawar prompted the opening of two gates at Aklera’s Chapi Dam, releasing 2,754 kcu of water, while a temperature dip eased the heat.

Rainfall continued for two days in Jhalawar, with Saturday recording 27 mm of precipitation, raising water inflow into the Chapi Dam at Aklera. In response, dam officials opened both spillway gates half a meter each to manage the surge. The controlled release amounted to 2,754 kcu of water, helping to maintain safe reservoir levels.
The operation was carried out under standard protocols, ensuring downstream flow remained within safe limits while preventing any sudden surge that could affect nearby settlements. Local authorities monitored the discharge closely and coordinated with irrigation departments.
Simultaneously, a noticeable drop in temperature provided much‑needed relief from the preceding heat and humidity, improving comfort for residents across the district.
