The Union government has appointed Justice Balbir Singh Chauhan to head the commission probing recent violence in Manipur.
The Ministry of Home Affairs announced that Justice Balbir Singh Chauhan will take charge as Chairperson of the Commission of Inquiry into the violence that erupted in Manipur earlier this year.
Justice Chauhan, a former judge of the Supreme Court, will oversee the investigation and submit a report to the central government.
The appointment follows the recommendation of the previous commission led by former Chief Justice of India.
