The Union government has dismissed Karnataka's claim that its E20 petrol contains 31% ethanol, stating that all 893 samples tested met quality standards.

E20 petrol, a blend of 20% ethanol and 80% gasoline, has been promoted across India to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and cut carbon emissions.

Recently, the Karnataka government alleged that the state's E20 petrol contains 31% ethanol, a figure that exceeds the standard blend ratio.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has responded by stating that it has tested 893 samples of E20 petrol from Karnataka and all met the prescribed quality parameters, thereby rejecting the 31% claim.

The central government has urged state authorities to adhere to the national blending guidelines and said that any deviation would be investigated further.
