The Union government has sanctioned funding for 300,000 houses in Andhra Pradesh and inaugurated the state’s first 3D concrete‑printed housing project.

New Delhi has cleared a package to construct 300,000 affordable homes in Andhra Pradesh under the central housing mission. The approval, announced by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, aims to accelerate the state’s effort to provide safe shelter to low‑income families.

In a parallel move, the first 3D concrete‑printed housing unit was unveiled in Andhra Pradesh, marking a technological milestone for Indian public housing. The structure, built using automated extrusion of cement‑based material, was assembled in a matter of days, showcasing speed, cost‑effectiveness and reduced waste.

Officials said the pilot project will serve as a template for future large‑scale deployments across the country, especially in regions facing acute housing shortages. The central government plans to integrate the 3D printing technology into the broader scheme, leveraging its potential to cut construction time and lower overall project costs.

The initiative aligns with the government's goal of delivering 20 million homes by 2025, and the Andhra Pradesh launch underscores a growing emphasis on innovative construction methods to meet that target.
