Centre Allocates ₹10,528 Cr for J&K National Highways, ₹658 Cr for Ladakh in 2023-24

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways announced that Jammu & Kashmir will receive ₹10,528 crore and Ladakh ₹658 crore for national highway development in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways released figures showing that Jammu & Kashmir will receive a total of ₹10,528 crore for national highway projects in the 2023-24 fiscal year. Ladakh, on the other hand, is slated to receive ₹658 crore for similar infrastructure work.
The allocations are part of the central government’s broader strategy to improve connectivity across the Union Territories. Funds will be channeled through the National Highways Authority of India and are earmarked for construction, expansion and maintenance of key routes.
Officials said the money will help upgrade existing roads, build new links and enhance safety features, thereby supporting economic development and tourism in the region. The announcement was made in a press briefing by the transport ministry earlier this week.
