The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a railway health inspector in Jharkhand for allegedly demanding a Rs 25,000 bribe to grant medical leave. The move comes after a probe into corruption within the railway health services.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a railway health inspector in Jharkhand on Thursday for allegedly demanding a Rs 25,000 bribe to grant medical leave to a railway employee.

According to the CBI press release, the inspector was accused of soliciting the payment from the employee in exchange for an official medical leave certificate. The investigation was launched after complaints were filed by the employee and the railway authorities.

The arrested inspector was taken into custody at the CBI headquarters in the state and is currently under interrogation. The CBI has stated that it will continue to probe the case and take further action against any other officials involved.

The incident highlights ongoing efforts by law‑enforcement agencies to curb corruption within the Indian Railways’ health services. The CBI has previously taken similar actions against officials accused of demanding bribes for medical certificates and other services.
