The crumbling 1999‑built government primary school in Rampara‑Kanvarpura village of Bagru, Jaipur, was demolished on Wednesday, with authorities announcing a ₹1.8 million replacement.
The ageing government primary school that was erected in 1999 in the village of Rampara‑Kanvarpura, part of the Bagru assembly constituency in Jaipur, was brought down on Wednesday by a bulldozer operated by district officials. The demolition was carried out after the structure was declared unsafe and beyond repair.
Local residents had previously raised concerns over the building’s poor condition, describing it as a “jarrar” (dilapidated) facility that hindered teaching and learning. The administration’s decision to raze the school follows those complaints and aims to clear the site for a modern replacement.
State education officials confirmed that a new school will be constructed on the same plot at an estimated cost of ₹1.8 million (approximately 18 lakh rupees). The upcoming building is expected to feature improved classrooms, sanitation facilities and a safer environment for students.
The demolition marks the first step in the district’s broader effort to upgrade educational infrastructure in rural Rajasthan, with the new school slated to open once construction is completed later this year.
