BRS lawmakers protest outside Telangana Assembly after speaker remarks spark row

On a recent day, a sizeable group of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) legislators and supporters assembled outside the Telangana Legislative Assembly building in Hyderabad, brandishing placards and chanting slogans demanding redress for comments aimed at the Speaker. The gathering was organized shortly after Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy allegedly made remarks that BRS leaders described as disrespectful to the party and the state. The party labelled the statements provocative and politically motivated, calling for an immediate apology. The protest disrupted the assembly's schedule, prompting security personnel to cordon off the premises and the Speaker to call for order. The session was temporarily suspended while police negotiated with the demonstrators. Assembly officials said the matter would be examined and appropriate action taken, while BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao urged the Speaker to retract the remarks and warned of further steps if the issue remained unresolved.
