Students at BPUT protested after a viral video showed questionable canteen food. The university has pledged to improve hygiene and ensure safe meals.
Students at Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) staged a protest in the campus hostel after a video that circulated online raised concerns about the cleanliness of the canteen food. The footage, which showed food being prepared in a manner that many viewers deemed unsanitary, prompted immediate backlash from the student body.
The demonstrators gathered outside the hostel mess, demanding a thorough review of hygiene practices and better oversight of food preparation. They also called for transparent reporting on the health and safety standards of the campus dining facilities.
In response, BPUT officials issued a statement assuring students that the university would conduct a comprehensive audit of the canteen’s operations. They pledged to implement stricter hygiene protocols, provide regular training for kitchen staff, and keep the student community informed about the steps taken to guarantee safe and hygienic meals.
