Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd has inaugurated a compressed bio‑gas (CBG) ecosystem in Satna, Madhya Pradesh, that will convert municipal waste into renewable fuel.

Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) officially opened a new compressed bio‑gas (CBG) ecosystem in the city of Satna, Madhya Pradesh. The facility is designed to collect locally generated solid waste and process it into CBG, a renewable fuel that can be used for transport and cooking.
The plant employs anaerobic digestion technology to break down organic waste, producing biogas that is then compressed to CBG standards. BPCL plans to supply the gas to municipal fleets, private vehicles and nearby households, thereby reducing dependence on conventional LPG.
The launch is part of BPCL’s broader sustainability drive, which aims to integrate waste‑to‑energy solutions into its operations. Officials said the project could help improve waste management in Satna while cutting greenhouse‑gas emissions.
State authorities welcomed the initiative, noting that it aligns with Madhya Pradesh’s goals for cleaner energy and circular economy development.
