After a prolonged search, Purja’s body was recovered a few days later by a joint rescue effort involving local Sherpa guides and international mountaineering teams.
Purja, known for his record‑setting climbs and for being the first to summit all fourteen 8,000‑meter peaks in under 6 months, had been attempting a new ascent of Broad Peak before the tragedy struck.
