Commuters can now scan QR codes at major Bangalore metro stations to access e‑books for free while waiting for trains.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has introduced a free digital library service at several major metro stations in the city. The initiative allows passengers to scan QR codes displayed at the stations and read e‑books on their smartphones without any charge.

The QR codes link to a curated collection of electronic books, enabling commuters to browse and read titles while they wait for their trains. The service requires only a mobile device with internet access, and no subscription or payment is needed.

BMRCL said the new facility is intended to enhance the commuting experience and promote reading habits among the public. By leveraging digital technology, the metro authority aims to provide an added value service that encourages digital inclusion.

The digital library is expected to benefit the large daily footfall at Bangalore’s metro network, offering a convenient and cost‑free reading option for thousands of passengers each day.
