The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) plans to implement plant-based bio-filtration technology in the city's lakes to enhance water quality and protect aquatic life.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is preparing to introduce a high-tech filtration system for the lakes of Bengaluru. The initiative aims to ensure that lake water remains clean while simultaneously providing protection to the local aquatic ecosystem.

To achieve these objectives, the municipal body has chosen to adopt 'bio-filtration' technology. This method relies on natural, plant-based processes to filter and purify the water, representing a shift towards eco-friendly solutions for urban water management.

The BBMP intends to implement this technology on a pilot basis initially. By testing the efficacy of the plant-based filtration system, the authority seeks to establish a sustainable model for maintaining the health of the city's water bodies.
