The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has issued a response to the All India Cine Workers Association regarding a draft proposal to raise the entertainment tax by 570 percent.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has formally addressed concerns raised by the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) over a draft notification that would increase the entertainment tax by 570 per cent. AICWA had warned that such a steep hike could cripple the city's film exhibition and related cultural activities. In its reply, BMC said the proposal is still under review and that the corporation is consulting stakeholders before any final decision is taken. The municipal body also highlighted that the tax revision aims to align revenue with rising operational costs of public amenities. Both parties have agreed to continue dialogue to balance fiscal objectives with the industry's viability.
