On the final day for filing nominations in Barmer’s municipal elections, a confrontation erupted between BJP and RLP activists over allegations that a candidate was forced to withdraw.

On the last day allotted for submitting nomination papers for the Barmer municipal elections, members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) came into a physical confrontation at a local party office. The dispute centered on the withdrawal of a candidate’s nomination, which both sides claimed was either voluntary or coerced.

RLP activists accused the BJP of applying pressure on the candidate to retract his filing, alleging that intimidation tactics were used to secure a strategic advantage ahead of the poll. In response, BJP representatives denied any wrongdoing, stating that the candidate chose to withdraw of his own free will and that the party respects the decision.

The clash reportedly involved shouting, the exchange of accusations, and a brief scuffle before local police intervened to restore order. No injuries were reported, and officials said the matter would be investigated further to determine whether any electoral code violations occurred.
