BJP vows to eradicate drug menace in Punjab, likening effort to anti‑Naxal drive

Punjab BJP leader Dhillon said the party is determined to root out the drug problem in the state with the same vigor applied to past anti‑Naxal and anti‑gangster operations. He emphasized that the government will mobilise police, administrative machinery and community outreach to dismantle drug networks.

The statement came during a press briefing in Chandigarh, where Dhillon outlined a multi‑pronged strategy that includes stricter enforcement, faster judicial processes and rehabilitation programmes for addicts. He also warned that any attempts to obstruct the crackdown will be met with firm action.

While the BJP has faced criticism over rising drug-related deaths in Punjab, Dhillon assured that the upcoming measures will be transparent and accountable, aiming to restore public confidence and curb the illicit trade that has plagued the region for years.
