BJP legislator Ajay Bishnoi criticised the deteriorating state of Madhya Pradesh's roads and the slowdown in construction projects, blaming low contract rates and corruption for the decline in quality.
Bhopal, August 24 (ANI) – BJP MLA Ajay Bishnoi raised concerns in the state assembly about the worsening condition of roads across Madhya Pradesh. He highlighted that many stretches of highway and rural roads are riddled with potholes and uneven surfaces, causing inconvenience to commuters and transport operators.
Bishnoi pointed to repeated delays in scheduled road‑construction projects, noting that several contracts have not been completed within the stipulated timelines. He argued that the practice of awarding contracts at artificially low rates has compromised the quality of work, leading to premature deterioration.
The legislator also accused elements of corruption within the department responsible for infrastructure, suggesting that cost‑cutting measures and irregularities have eroded standards. He called for a thorough review of the tendering process and urged the state government to allocate adequate resources to ensure durable road construction.
The remarks come amid growing public frustration over road safety and connectivity in the central state, with commuters demanding swift remedial action. The government has yet to respond publicly to Bishnoi's allegations.
