Birsa Park Hatches 13 Speckled Cobra & Sand Boa Eggs, Enhancing Conservation

Birsa Biological Park, located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, achieved a significant conservation milestone by hatching 13 speckled cobra and sand boa eggs through artificial incubation. The eggs, collected from local herpetological studies, were incubated in controlled conditions that mimicked natural temperature and humidity cycles. The hatchlings, now 13 in total, are expected to be released into protected habitats once they reach a suitable age. Conservationists view this success as a promising step toward bolstering the populations of these reptiles, which face threats from habitat loss and illegal trade. The park plans to continue its breeding program, aiming to expand the number of captive-bred individuals for future reintroduction efforts.
