The Bihar government announced the Cooperative Policy 2026, promising new job opportunities in rural areas, especially for women and young people.
Patna, August 21 — Officials of the Bihar Cooperative Department unveiled the Cooperative Policy 2026, a framework intended to revitalize the state’s cooperative sector and generate employment in villages. The policy outlines measures such as increased credit access, modernized cooperative structures, and targeted skill‑development programmes.
The department projects that the new scheme will create several thousand jobs across agricultural, dairy, and handicraft cooperatives, with a special focus on women entrepreneurs and youth. By linking cooperatives with state‑run training institutes, the policy seeks to equip beneficiaries with market‑relevant skills.
Senior officer Rajesh Kumar, who presented the policy, said the initiative aligns with Bihar’s broader economic goals and will be rolled out in phases starting next quarter. Monitoring committees will track job creation metrics to ensure the promised benefits reach the intended groups.
