The Bihar government will establish 100 Fresh Catch kiosks across the state to sell live and fresh fish, with the first kiosk inaugurated in Mithapur, Patna by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary.
Patna – The Bihar administration has announced a plan to set up a network of 100 Fresh Catch kiosks that will sell both live and freshly‑caught fish. The initiative, modeled after the successful Sudha Booth scheme, aims to bring fresh fish to consumers without the need for long travel.
On Sunday, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary officially opened the first kiosk in the Mithapur area of Patna. The ceremony marked the launch of the state‑wide rollout, which will see similar kiosks opened in towns and villages over the coming months.
The kiosks are expected to provide a reliable source of high‑quality fish for households, especially in areas where access to fresh produce has been limited. By consolidating supply in one location, the scheme also seeks to streamline distribution for fish vendors.
State officials said the project will be implemented in phases, with priority given to regions that lack adequate market infrastructure. Once fully operational, the 100‑kiosk network could enhance food security and support local fisheries.
