The Bihar government has instructed all state‑run hospitals to assess and report deficiencies in equipment essential for maternal care.

The Health Ministry of Bihar issued a directive on Tuesday demanding that all government hospitals conduct a comprehensive audit of maternal care equipment.
The order, issued by Health Minister Renu Devi, calls for hospitals to identify gaps in essential items such as neonatal incubators, ultrasound machines, and emergency delivery kits.
Hospitals are required to submit a detailed report within 30 days, which will be reviewed by the state health department to prioritize procurement and distribution.
The move follows rising concerns over maternal mortality rates in rural districts and aims to strengthen the state’s maternity services.
Officials say the audit will help ensure that women receive timely and safe delivery care across Bihar.
