Bihar Offers Free Bus Rides to Women and Female Students on Raksha Bandhan, Aug 27-28

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan 2026, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) announced a special scheme granting free travel to women and female students on its fleet of buses. The concession will be applicable on Saturday, 27 August, and Sunday, 28 August 2026, covering all routes operated by BSRTC across the state. Female passengers will be allowed to board without paying any fare. The initiative, described by the corporation as a tribute to the bond between brothers and sisters, aims to encourage safe and affordable mobility for women during the festive period. Officials said the scheme will be implemented through standard ticketing systems, with staff instructed to verify gender and student status where required. No additional documentation is needed beyond usual identification.
