During a district programme implementation committee meeting in Vaishali, Minister Lakhendra Kumar Raushan expressed anger over substandard rice supplied through the Public Distribution System and warned of a top‑level inquiry.

The district programme implementation committee convened in Vaishali, Bihar, where the quality of rice distributed through the Public Distribution System (PDS) became a focal point of discussion. Several complaints about stale and discoloured grains were presented, prompting the gathering to address the issue urgently.

Minister Lakhendra Kumar Raushan, who was present at the meeting, voiced strong displeasure over the substandard rice reaching beneficiaries. He publicly reprimanded a senior officer responsible for overseeing the distribution, emphasizing that such lapses undermine the scheme's credibility.

Raushan assured that a high‑level investigation will be launched to trace the source of the faulty supplies and to hold accountable any officials found negligent. The minister also directed the department to implement stricter quality checks before the next distribution cycle.

The announcement aims to restore confidence among PDS beneficiaries in Vaishali, where rice is a staple food and a critical component of the government's food‑security program.
