Bihar launches TechConnect portal to boost space‑based tech, signs MoU with Survey of India

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inaugurated the TechConnect portal in Patna, presenting it as a dedicated platform to accelerate space‑based technologies and scientific research across Bihar. The portal will host a digital repository of satellite imagery, geospatial data and innovation grants, enabling startups, academic institutions and government agencies to collaborate on development projects.

During the ceremony, the state signed a memorandum of understanding with the Survey of India to provide high‑resolution mapping data to the portal. The partnership is expected to enhance urban planning, disaster management and agricultural monitoring by leveraging precise geospatial information.

Officials said the initiative aligns with Bihar's broader vision of smart governance and economic growth, aiming to attract technology firms and create skilled jobs. The portal will be accessible to innovators nationwide, with a focus on solutions tailored to the state's unique challenges.

The launch marks the first major state‑level effort to integrate space technology directly into policy‑making and service delivery, signaling Bihar's ambition to become a hub for scientific innovation in eastern India.
