The Bihar government has rolled out Direct Benefit Transfer for pensioners, aiming to deliver pensions promptly and securely.
Bihar has launched a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system to channel pension payments directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts, eliminating intermediaries and reducing processing delays. The move is part of the state’s broader effort to strengthen social security mechanisms and ensure that retirees receive their entitlements without interruption.
Under the DBT scheme, pensioners are required to link their Aadhaar and bank details with the pension department, allowing automatic credit of monthly amounts. Officials say the digital route minimizes errors, curbs leakages, and provides a transparent audit trail for each transaction.
State authorities highlighted that the initiative will cover all categories of pension schemes administered by the Bihar government, including old-age, disability and family pensions. By leveraging existing banking infrastructure, the administration expects faster disbursement and greater financial inclusion for senior citizens across the state.
The government has also set up a helpline and grievance redressal mechanism to assist pensioners facing challenges in account linking or fund receipt, reinforcing its commitment to a hassle‑free pension delivery system.
