Bihar Floodwaters Recede as CM Nitish Kumar Promises Faster Relief

After days of heavy rains, floodwaters in Bihar have begun to withdraw, and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pledged accelerated relief measures.
Heavy monsoon rains over the past week have inundated large parts of Bihar, submerging roads, homes and agricultural fields across several districts. In recent days, the water levels in the Ganges and its tributaries have started to fall, allowing some stranded residents to return to their villages.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed the media in Patna, stating that the receding waters are a positive sign but emphasizing that relief operations must be intensified. He assured that the state government is mobilising additional rescue teams, medical aid and food supplies to reach the most affected areas within the next 48 hours.
Despite the improvement, officials warned that pockets of waterlogging remain, posing health risks and hindering the restoration of essential services. The administration has appealed to citizens to cooperate with relief crews and to report any remaining emergencies promptly.
