Bihar Floods Leave 2.24 Million People Stranded

Heavy monsoon rains have caused widespread flooding across Bihar, affecting about 2.24 million residents and disrupting daily life.
The state of Bihar continues to grapple with severe flooding after days of intense monsoon rainfall. Water has inundated low‑lying districts, submerging homes, roads and agricultural fields, and forcing thousands to seek shelter in relief camps.
According to the state disaster management authority, roughly 2.24 million people have been directly impacted, with many lacking access to clean drinking water and basic medical services. Relief teams are distributing food packets, dry rations and emergency kits, while the army has been deployed to assist in rescue operations.
Officials warn that the situation remains precarious as water levels in several rivers, including the Ganga and Kosi, are still high. They have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant, follow evacuation orders and avoid traveling through flooded zones.
The central government has approved additional funds for flood relief and is coordinating with state agencies to accelerate reconstruction of damaged infrastructure.
