The premium Vande Bharat Express scheduled between Bengaluru and Goa will run at speeds of 53‑54 km/h, making it one of the slowest in the country and comparable to conventional mail trains.

The newly launched Vande Bharat Express that connects Bengaluru with Goa is expected to travel at a maximum speed of 53‑54 km/h, according to the Ministry of Railways. This pace places the train among the slowest of the Vande Bharat fleet, which typically operates at speeds exceeding 130 km/h on other routes.

Rail officials attribute the reduced speed to the track conditions and the number of intermediate stops on the 600‑km stretch. The route includes several single‑track sections and requires frequent speed restrictions, limiting the train’s ability to maintain higher velocities.

While the Vande Bharat brand is synonymous with speed and comfort, this particular service will offer a more modest travel time of roughly 12 hours, similar to that of conventional mail trains that run at comparable speeds.

Passengers are advised that the slower pace may affect journey planning, but the train will still provide modern amenities such as onboard Wi‑Fi, automatic doors and ergonomic seating. Rail authorities are monitoring the service and may upgrade the track infrastructure in the future to increase speed and reduce travel time.
