Bengaluru Police File FIR Against Uttarakhand BJP Members Over Purification Ritual

The police in Bengaluru registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Monday against several members of the Uttarakhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a purification ritual was conducted at the site of a rally by opposition leader Nitin Kharge. The rally, which drew a large crowd in the city’s central district, was followed by a ceremonial cleansing that some observers said violated local law and public order provisions. In the FIR, the police allege that the BJP members unlawfully entered restricted areas, used prohibited devices and caused disturbances during the ritual. The complaint has been forwarded to the district magistrate for further investigation, and the police have asked the accused to appear for questioning within 48 hours.
