In Vikrampur village of Begusarai, devotees recreate Maa Bhagwati each evening of Navaratri using flowers and betel leaves, only to immerse the idol the next morning.
During the nine‑night festival of Navaratri, villagers of Vikrampur in Begusarai assemble a fresh idol of Maa Bhagwati each evening, adorning it with fresh flowers and betel leaves. The ritual, which dates back almost two centuries, is performed after a full night of worship and prayers. In the early hours of the next day, the idol is immersed in a nearby water body, symbolizing the cycle of creation and dissolution. Local residents view the practice as a testament to faith and communal harmony, passing the tradition from generation to generation. The event attracts devotees from surrounding villages, who come to witness the daily renewal of the goddess’s form.
