Science teacher Prabha Kumari of Katihar Mala School in Danari block, Begusarai, has been shortlisted for the Bihar State Teacher Award 2026, ranking 37th among 38 nominees.
Prabha Kumari, who teaches science at Katihar Mala Secondary School in Danari block of Begusarai district, has secured a place on the official shortlist for the Bihar State Teacher Award 2026. Her name appears at the 37th position out of a total of 38 educators selected by the state education department.
The award, announced by the Bihar government, aims to recognise outstanding contributions of teachers across the state. Kumari’s inclusion reflects her efforts in fostering scientific curiosity among her students and promoting a hands‑on learning approach in a rural school setting.
Katihar Mala School, located in the Danari block, has been noted for its emphasis on practical science education. Kumari, who has been with the institution for several years, has introduced experiments and project‑based activities that have reportedly increased student engagement in STEM subjects.
The shortlist will be reviewed by a panel of senior educators before the final awardees are announced later this year. Being named among the state’s top teachers is expected to enhance Kumari’s professional profile and inspire other educators in the region.
