The Board of Control for Cricket in India chief highlighted that improved facilities are essential for bringing international matches to Kashmir.
The chief of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has warned that the current cricket facilities in Kashmir are inadequate for hosting international games. He pointed out that stadiums, pitches and related amenities must meet global standards before any overseas team can be scheduled to play there.
According to the BCCI official, upgrades such as modern floodlights, high‑quality playing surfaces, expanded seating capacity and robust security arrangements are critical. Improved transport links and hospitality services for players and fans were also cited as priorities.
These remarks were made in an interview with Kashmir Life, reflecting a growing desire to use sport as a catalyst for tourism and economic development in the region. The BCCI chief urged the state government and local cricket authorities to collaborate on a comprehensive infrastructure plan.
He noted that several Indian cities have successfully transformed their venues to attract world‑class matches, and that a similar effort could position Kashmir as a new destination for international cricket.
