After a spurious liquor batch killed 30 people in Banda, the alleged mastermind escaped on a claimed pilgrimage, eluding police across state borders.

A batch of illicit liquor in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, has been linked to the deaths of 30 individuals, according to local authorities. The investigation identified a senior figure believed to have organized the distribution of the toxic brew.

Instead of surrendering, the suspect reportedly left the district under the pretext of undertaking a religious pilgrimage, moving through multiple states to avoid detection. Police officials said the fugitive has been using the pilgrimage cover to stay ahead of ongoing manhunts.

Law enforcement agencies from Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states are coordinating efforts to track the individual, issuing alerts to checkpoints and transport hubs. The case has heightened public concern over the circulation of counterfeit liquor and the challenges of apprehending those behind such operations.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about the suspect's whereabouts to come forward, emphasizing that the safety of citizens remains a priority as the probe continues.
