On the first day of Shukla Paksha Bhadrapad, thousands gathered at Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple to witness Baba Mahakal’s Bhavsm Aarti, featuring a Panchamrit ablution and elaborate decorations.
Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh – On Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha Pratipada, the Mahakaleshwar Temple hosted the traditional Bhavsm Aarti of Baba Mahakal. The deity was anointed with Panchamrit, a mixture of five sacred substances, as part of the ritual.
The idol was further embellished with a Tripundra‑Trinetr design and a garland of Rudraksha beads interspersed with fresh flowers, creating a striking visual for the assembled devotees.
Officials reported that a large crowd of worshippers gathered early in the morning to witness the ceremony, which is considered auspicious at the start of the lunar month. The event concluded with the chanting of hymns and the distribution of sacred ash to participants.
