Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that security forces intercepted 17 suspected Bangladeshi infiltrators trying to enter Assam.

Security personnel stationed along Assam's border reported the apprehension of seventeen individuals believed to be Bangladeshi infiltrators. The operation was carried out in the early hours, before the suspects could cross into Indian territory.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the incident in a brief statement, emphasizing that the state’s vigilance teams are constantly monitoring vulnerable stretches of the border. He praised the prompt response of the Assam Police and the Border Security Force for thwarting the illegal entry.

The incident adds to a series of recent interceptions along the Assam‑Bangladesh frontier, prompting authorities to reinforce patrols and deploy additional surveillance equipment. Officials reiterated that any attempt to breach the border will be met with strict legal action under existing immigration and security laws.
