Assam Floods Claim 80 Lives, Affecting Over 200,000 People

Heavy monsoon rains have devastated Assam, with the death toll rising to 80 and more than 200,000 people affected across the state. The floods have inundated major districts such as Goalpara, Jorhat and Dibrugarh, displacing thousands and damaging homes, roads and agricultural land. State authorities have set up relief camps and deployed the Assam Police, Army and local volunteers to rescue stranded residents and distribute food, blankets and medical supplies. The Assam government has requested additional assistance from the central government and has urged residents to stay alert as rainfall is expected to continue for the next few days.
