Assam’s dairy industry has seen a 54.65% jump in milk procurement after the state introduced a Rs 5 per litre subsidy, according to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Assam has announced a new subsidy of Rs 5 per litre for milk, a move that has already translated into a 54.65% increase in milk procurement, the state’s chief minister said on Tuesday. The policy aims to support dairy farmers and boost the state’s dairy output. "The subsidy has encouraged farmers to supply more milk and has helped stabilize prices," Himanta Biswa Sarma told reporters. The government plans to monitor the impact on both farmers and consumers as the scheme rolls out across the state.
