Assam CM says peace accord boosts development in Karbi Anglong

The chief minister of Assam asserted that the signing of a peace accord with insurgent groups has created a conducive environment for development in the Karbi Anglong region. He emphasized that the cessation of hostilities has allowed the state government to focus on infrastructure, education and health initiatives without the previous security constraints.

Since the accord, several road‑building and bridge‑construction projects have been expedited, linking remote villages to district headquarters. In addition, the administration has launched schemes to improve school facilities and primary healthcare centres, aiming to raise living standards for the tribal population.

The minister urged continued cooperation from local communities and former militants to sustain the momentum, stating that lasting peace is essential for attracting investment and ensuring long‑term socio‑economic growth in the district.
