Chief Minister Himanta Sarma handed out Rs 278 crore to 82,219 young beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan, aiming to boost self‑reliance among Assam's youth.
Assam's chief minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, oversaw the disbursement of Rs 278 crore to 82,219 young people under the Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan. The funds were handed out in a ceremony attended by officials and beneficiaries, marking a major step in the state government's push for youth empowerment.
The Atmanirbhar Asom scheme, launched earlier this year, seeks to provide financial assistance, skill‑development training and entrepreneurship support to young adults across the state. By channeling substantial resources directly to the target group, the government aims to reduce unemployment and foster a culture of self‑reliance.
During the event, the chief minister emphasized that the allocation will enable recipients to start small enterprises, pursue higher education or acquire vocational skills. He reiterated the government's commitment to creating an enabling environment for youth, noting that similar disbursements will continue as part of the broader development agenda.
