The Arunachal Pradesh government has approved revised guidelines for its Rural Road Development Programme, aiming to boost connectivity in remote villages.

Arunachal Pradesh officials announced the finalisation of updated guidelines governing the Rural Road Development Programme. The revised framework, approved by the state cabinet, seeks to streamline project planning, funding allocation and execution across the state's hilly terrain.

The new guidelines emphasise faster clearance of proposals, stricter quality controls and greater involvement of local panchayats to ensure that road construction meets the specific needs of remote communities. They also align the state programme with central initiatives such as the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, facilitating smoother fund flow.

Implementation responsibility will rest with the Public Works Department, which will monitor progress through periodic audits and field inspections. Officials expect the revised rules to accelerate the completion of pending road projects and improve year‑round access to markets, health centres and schools in the region.

Stakeholders, including village representatives and contractors, have been invited to provide feedback during a 30‑day consultation period before the guidelines become operational later this year.
