According to state officials, more than 100,000 families have been affected, with many forced to relocate to temporary shelters.
The deluge has also wreaked havoc on agriculture, destroying approximately 85,000 hectares of crops and threatening the region’s food security.
In response, a Member of Parliament from the state has appealed to the central government for a special assistance package to aid recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
