The Andhra Pradesh government has unveiled a ₹2,405 crore blueprint aimed at upgrading the irrigation infrastructure across the Godavari Delta, enhancing water distribution and boosting agricultural productivity.
The state government of Andhra Pradesh has announced a comprehensive plan worth ₹2,405 crore to modernise the irrigation network in the Godavari Delta region. The blueprint focuses on upgrading canals, installing new pumping stations and integrating advanced water‑management technologies to improve water use efficiency.
Officials say the project will address long‑standing issues of water leakage and uneven distribution, which have hampered agricultural output in the delta. By enhancing the network’s capacity, the plan aims to increase crop yields and provide more reliable irrigation for farmers.
The government has earmarked the funds for phased implementation, with initial works expected to begin in the coming fiscal year. Stakeholders, including local farmer groups, have welcomed the initiative as a step toward sustainable agriculture in the region.
