IndiGo will halt its Jabalpur‑Indore service from 24 October, saying the ATR aircraft used on the route need maintenance. The move has raised concerns among local business groups.
IndiGo announced that its scheduled service connecting Jabalpur and Indore, which would have continued onward to Hyderabad, will be discontinued from 24 October. The airline’s winter timetable released earlier this month does not list the route, confirming its removal.
The carrier explained that the suspension is driven by maintenance requirements for its fleet of ATR aircraft, which operate the regional segment between the two Madhya Pradesh cities. The airline said the aircraft need to undergo extensive checks that cannot be accommodated within the current schedule.
The Jabalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry voiced apprehension that the loss of the flight could adversely affect local commerce, tourism and industrial supply chains. Chamber officials urged state authorities and the airline to consider alternative connectivity options to mitigate the impact.
Passengers who have already booked tickets for the affected dates will be offered rebooking on other IndiGo services or a full refund, in line with the airline’s standard policy.
Industry analysts note that several carriers are trimming winter routes amid lower passenger demand, and the Jabalpur‑Indore suspension reflects a broader trend of schedule rationalisation across regional networks.
