The state’s commercial tax receipts rose 18% year‑on‑year to ₹30,436 crore during the first half of the fiscal year, according to official data.

Andhra Pradesh’s commercial tax department reported an 18% increase in collections for the first half of the fiscal year, bringing total receipts to ₹30,436 crore, the Economic Times said. The rise reflects higher turnover in the state’s trading and services sectors, which form the bulk of the commercial tax base.

Comparing with the same period last year, the collection was roughly ₹25,770 crore, indicating a substantial boost in revenue. The growth outpaced the national average for commercial tax collections, underscoring Andhra Pradesh’s robust economic activity.

State officials expect the higher tax inflow to strengthen the upcoming budget, allowing greater allocation to infrastructure projects and social schemes. The finance department has not disclosed whether the increase will translate into higher fiscal surplus, but the trend signals improved fiscal health for the state.
