The Andhra Pradesh government has approved a Dearness Allowance hike for its employees, clearing two pending instalments and raising pension rates effective October.
The state government of Andhra Pradesh announced a revision of Dearness Allowance (DA) for its salaried employees, effective from October. The decision includes the disbursement of two pending DA instalments that were due earlier, ensuring that staff receive the arrears they were owed.
In addition to clearing the backlog, the new DA rate will also bring a modest increase to pension benefits for retired government workers, aligning their post‑retirement earnings with the revised allowance structure.
The finance department said the adjustments are part of the regular review process to keep wages in step with inflation and cost‑of‑living changes. Employees are expected to see the revised figures reflected in their October pay slips.
The move has been welcomed by employee unions, who had been pressing for timely payment of the pending instalments and a fair pension uplift. The government has assured that the implementation will be smooth and transparent.
Overall, the DA hike and pension boost aim to improve the purchasing power of state employees and retirees, reinforcing the administration's commitment to welfare of its workforce.
