Punjab police uncovered a narcoterror cell in Amritsar, confiscating 34 kg of heroin and an Israeli-made Uzi submachine gun.
Amritsar police announced the dismantling of a narcoterror network operating in the city, describing it as a hybrid of drug trafficking and extremist activity. The operation, carried out by the state's anti‑narcotics and crime units, resulted in the seizure of a substantial cache of illegal substances and weaponry.
Investigators recovered approximately 34 kilograms of heroin, a quantity that underscores the scale of the network's drug distribution. In addition, a fully functional Israeli‑made Uzi submachine gun was seized, raising concerns about the potential for armed violence linked to drug syndicates.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the arrested individuals, but they indicated that further interrogations will aim to map the broader network and its connections. The seizure is being treated as a major success in the state's ongoing fight against organized crime and the proliferation of illicit arms.
