The Ministry of Railways has cleared the introduction of a new Amrit Bharat train connecting Bhuj in Gujarat with Barauni in Bihar, aiming to boost long‑distance travel across the west‑to‑east corridor.
The Indian Railways Ministry announced the approval of a new Amrit Bharat Express that will run between Bhuj in Gujarat and Barauni in Bihar. The service is part of the flagship Amrit Bharat series, which promises faster, more comfortable long‑distance travel with upgraded amenities.
The Bhuj‑Barauni route will cover a distance of roughly 1,800 kilometres, linking the western coastal region with the eastern plains. Officials said the train will operate on a weekly schedule initially, with plans to increase frequency based on passenger demand.
Railway officials highlighted that the new service will reduce travel time compared to existing trains on the same corridor, thanks to modern rolling stock and priority track allocation. The move is expected to stimulate economic activity and tourism in the regions it serves.
