The new Amrit Bharat Express linking Ahmedabad and Bhagalpur will commence operations on August 26, with a defined route, scheduled stops and timings.
The Indian Railways has announced that the Amrit Bharat Express, a premium long‑distance service, will begin running between Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Bhagalpur in Bihar on August 26. The launch is part of the government's push to enhance connectivity across the country with faster, more comfortable trains.
The train will traverse a corridor that includes major junctions such as Vadodara, Ratlam, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Katni, Satna, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Patna before reaching Bhagalpur. These stops are expected to serve passengers from both western and eastern regions, providing a direct link that previously required multiple changes.
According to the timetable released by Indian Railways, the Ahmedabad‑Bhagalpur service will operate six days a week, with departure from Ahmedabad at 06:30 hrs and arrival at Bhagalpur around 22:45 hrs, covering the distance in roughly 16 hours. The train will feature modern amenities, including bio‑toilets, Wi‑Fi and upgraded seating, aligning with the Amrit Bharat brand’s emphasis on passenger comfort.
Railway officials anticipate that the new service will boost trade, tourism and cultural exchange between Gujarat and Bihar, while also easing pressure on existing routes. The launch will be overseen by senior railway officials in a ceremony at Ahmedabad station.
