Renowned sarod virtuoso Amjad Ali Khan will join the La Jolla Symphony & Chorus for a pair of concerts in San Diego, marking a cross‑cultural musical collaboration.
The La Jolla Symphony & Chorus has announced a partnership with Indian sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan for two upcoming concerts in the San Diego area. The collaboration brings together a leading American orchestral ensemble and one of India’s most celebrated classical musicians.
Amjad Ali Khan, a multiple‑time Grammy nominee and recipient of India’s Padma awards, is known for his innovative approach to Hindustani classical music. His participation is expected to introduce the sarod’s distinctive timbre to the symphonic repertoire, creating a unique blend of Western orchestration and Indian classical tradition.
Organisers say the concerts will showcase a curated program that interweaves Khan’s solo performances with orchestral arrangements, offering audiences a rare cultural exchange. Tickets are being made available through the La Jolla Symphony’s usual channels, and the events are positioned as a highlight of the region’s spring cultural calendar.
