Amitabh Bachchan Says He Struggles to Understand Gen Z Slang

Veterarian film icon Amitabh Bachchan told Telangana Today that he finds it difficult to decode the slang used by Generation Z. The 80‑year‑old star, who has been a mainstay of Indian cinema for six decades, said the rapid evolution of youth language often leaves him puzzled.

Bachchan explained that while he enjoys interacting with younger fans on social media, the constantly changing abbreviations, memes and colloquial expressions can be bewildering. He noted that many of his contemporaries face a similar gap, highlighting the broader cultural shift in communication styles.

Despite the challenge, the actor said he is keen to learn and adapt, acknowledging that staying relevant requires an openness to new linguistic trends. He added that he appreciates the creativity behind the slang, even if he sometimes has to ask friends for translations.
